One municipal fire department on the Island has imposed a total fire ban due to the very dry conditions in the area, while others around Manitoulin are not allowing fire permits being provided for large fires. Please exercise extreme care with open flames of any sort. Look for further details in next week’s edition of The Expositor. **Trail Closure Notice: Cup and Saucer Trail**. The event is being put on through a partnership of the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and The Manitoulin Expositor. The event provides an opportunity for first responders and emergency services to meet community members face to face and to demonstrate some of their capabilities and technology. More than 40 exhibitors will be in attendance at the event, which will take place from 10 am to 4 pm. The Gore Bay Museum is excited to welcome “Heartfelt Heritage – Manitoulin Roots,” an art exhibition by Canadian artist Christie (Best) Pearson Anderson of Christies Art at the Gore Bay Museum, 12 Dawson St, Gore Bay. Come enjoy a beautiful collection of paintings and drawings inspired by Manitoulin roots and heritage. The exhibition will continue throughout the summer until August 29. A ‘Little Bit of Whealism’ Art Exhibition runs until July 17 at the Gore Bay Harbour Centre Studio 6\. 40 Water Street. A crisis service worker at an Island police department has been presented with a prestigious award from the Attorney General. A Little Current family lost their home to fire Tuesday evening.
