**PUBLIC NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING**

**TAKE NOTICE** that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Billings will hold a **Public Meeting** pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act to consider a proposed amendment to the Township’s Zoning By-law.

**Purpose and Effect of the Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment**

The purpose of the proposed amendment is to **update the Township Zoning** 
**By-law** to introduce provisions that regulate the **placement, use and standards for shipping containers** within the municipality.

The effect of the amendment is to:

• Establish definitions for shipping containers

• Permit shipping containers as **accessory structures** in specified zones

• Regulate the number, size, and placement of shipping containers

• Establish **setbacks, lot size requirements and screening provisions**

• Prohibit the use of shipping containers for habitable purposes unless otherwise permitted

• Provide enforcement provisions to ensure compliance with the Township’s new Shipping Container By-law

These changes are intended to ensure that shipping containers are used in a manner that is **safe, visually compatible and consistent with land use planning principles.** The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment applies to **all lands within the Township of Billings.**
