The main Lions event is Ribfest, a delicious intro to the summer season and a fitting addendum to Central Manitoulin Lions Summerfest. Ribfest will feature not only some delicious food, but also tribute bands The Luke Combs Experience - Beautiful Crazy and Green River Revival, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute, followed by fireworks. “None of this can happen without the work of volunteers,” said Lion President Scott, who noted the club supports many important organizations in the community as do the many community volunteers who come out to assist in the Lions Club efforts each year. That, in turn, helps Central Manitoulin Lions Club help others. “We donated recently to Manitoulin Health Centre and Manitoulin Family Resources to help them deal with the recent flood events. We also support Manitoulin Secondary School graduates with three large bursaries—they do a great job.” He pointed out that the hospital does not receive capital funding from the province, so a concerted community effort is needed to raise the funds to help keep our hospital sites in state-of-the-art condition. “When it comes to small municipalities like ours, the work of volunteers adds so much to our quality of life,” said Lion President Scott. ‘Every little bit helps,” he adds. “It doesn’t have to be a big commitment or effort.” “When it comes to the effort put forward by our Lions, I am very grateful, and when it comes to the volunteers who come out each year to lend a hand, we really appreciate your effort, it really means a lot to us.” “So, come on out to Central Manitoulin Lions Club Summerfest Weekend, enjoy the great food and music to be had at Ribfest,” said Lion President Scott, “and have a great weekend. We will see you there.”
