This is the first fibre festival on Manitoulin Island, inspired by the Espanola Fibre Festival. The exhibition will be open July 10 to 19\. This promises to be an action-packed weekend of family fun at the M’Chigeeng Beachfront, marina, complex and ballpark! There is something for everyone! Children, youth, adults and Elders alike. Tonight, The Ojibwe Cultural Foundation is screening the documentary ‘Aanikoobijigan’ (ancestor/great-grandparent/great-grandchild). This is a free event and is open to everyone. Gore Bay Theatre is presenting two productions this summer. This is a Canadian classic set in Calgary during World War II, and is filled with humour, comradeship and songs of the time. This is one of two productions that will be on the stage this summer, along with ‘Outside Mullingar,’ a Tony award winning Irish romantic comedy written by John Patrick Shanley. It appears that the mass bass die-off in Lake Kagawong has now ceased, although the mystery as to what caused it will remain that, a mystery, for now. Island poet and artist Sophie Edwards has been named to the Giller Prize’s 2026 Craving CanLit list for her experimental novel ‘*A Mouth of Vowels*.’ To celebrate Canadian authors, Giller Prize has put together a list of fiction and graphic novels published between October 2025 and September 2026\. Sunday, the daytime high of 27°C will be accompanied by a 30 percent chance of showers that continues into the night.
