### 🖼️ Artistry

All art begins with imagination,” says realist painter Cliff Jewell, and the first thing to imagine is you creating something wonderful. In an inspiring workshop, Mr. Jewell shares his techniques, personal philosophy and creative insights in a supportive, relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re just beginning or well along your artistic path, you’re warmly invited to experiment, push boundaries, and create with confidence, integrity, and a sense of playful curiosity. ### 🎶 Powwow

The 37th annual M’Chigeeng 91���˵��� traditional powwow will take place [September 5-6](https://calendar.app.google/2F7u81QS6AgbJ25z7?ref=manitoulin.com) at the powwow grounds 325A Highway 551, M’Chigeeng. ### 🚲 Bike Ride & Rodeo

The OPP Youth Foundation is presenting the second annual Marc Hovingh Memorial Youth Bike Ride and Rodeo on [Saturday, September 5, starting at 10 am](https://calendar.app.google/s1YhFtqRuZFPZB548?ref=manitoulin.com) at the Mindemoya arena. The event is open to those age 18 and under. A touch-a-truck, free barbecue, door and draw prizes and more will be part of the event. Registration is free. ### 🚴 Bike Tour

Looking for an adventure on the long weekend? Consider participating in the annual Tour de Force family 30 kilometre bike ride or the more thrill seeking 140 km bike ride. It is a fun, enjoyable time, open to everyone. ### 🌌 Drone Demo

Interested in being a drone show pilot? Want to see what happens behind the scenes of a drone show? No experience needed! Indigenous Tourism Ontario is looking for indigenous youth (under 29) to experience what it takes to be part of a professional drone show team. The drone show will take place one night only, [Saturday, September 5 at 10 pm](https://calendar.app.google/WDRZLRH3F7X8uLrWA?ref=manitoulin.com) at the M’Chigeeng powwow grounds. The event is being hosted by Indigenous Tourism Ontario and M’Chigeeng 91���˵���. Join MPP Stephanie Bowman for a meet and greet event in Little Current on [Saturday, September 5](https://calendar.app.google/5hxsQJZVtbMXffd76?ref=manitoulin.com)! Stephanie Bowman is the MPP for Don Valley West and is running to be the next leader of the Ontario Liberal Party. She will be at the Tim Hortons on 45 Manitowaning Road between 10:30 am and 12 noon.

## 📝 What we're working on

- The swing bridge has been dedicated to honour the late Constable Marc Hovingh, who killed in the line of duty on November 19, 2020.
- An uptick in blastomycosis is being reported in both humans and pets on Manitoulin.
- Billings council were critical of a letter from a group of local residents who feel it is "morally wrong" for the township to not delay the hiring of a CAO, until after this fall’s municipal election.
- The vessel 'Neverlanding,' which has been anchored at Goat Island near Little Current for a few months is under investigation by the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. Staff has been directed to see if the vessel has been abandoned and if so, to take appropriate action.

## ☀️ Weather

According to Environment Canada, a pleasant Labour Day weekend is in store for Manitoulin. Friday will see a daytime high of 25°C under mainly sunny skies with temperatures will drop to a low of 14°C overnight with partly cloudy skies.

Saturday will see a mix of sun and cloud, with a daytime high of 22°C. Temperatures drop to 13°C overnight under clear skies.

Sunday is expected to be sunny, accompanied by a daytime high of 24°C. Temperatures will drop to a low of 12°C Sunday night under clear skies.

Labour Day Monday has the potential to be a bit soggy, with a 30 percent chance of rain accompanied by a daytime high of 21°C, dropping to 12°C overnight with the chance of showers rising to 40 percent.
