PUBLIC NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Billings will hold a Public Meeting pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act to consider a proposed amendment to the Township鈥檚 Zoning By-law.

Purpose and Effect of the Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment
The purpose of the proposed amendment is to update the Township Zoning
By-law to introduce provisions that regulate the placement, use and standards for shipping containers within the municipality.
The effect of the amendment is to:
鈥 Establish definitions for shipping containers
鈥 Permit shipping containers as accessory structures in specified zones
鈥 Regulate the number, size, and placement of shipping containers
鈥 Establish setbacks, lot size requirements and screening provisions
鈥 Prohibit the use of shipping containers for habitable purposes unless otherwise permitted
鈥 Provide enforcement provisions to ensure compliance with the Township鈥檚 new Shipping Container By-law
These changes are intended to ensure that shipping containers are used in a manner that is safe, visually compatible and consistent with land use planning principles. The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment applies to all lands within the Township of Billings.
