Weengushk Film Institute celebrates 20th birthday, unveils building plans

Dr. Shirley Cheechoo, founder of Weengushk Film Institute and Weengushk International Film Festival, holds aloft a sacred daf, one of the most ancient framed drums in Asia and North Africa, gifted to her by the Iranian folk music ensemble Rastak. Rastak was at the film festival as part of the cultural exchange portion of the event.
