EVANSVILLE鈥擳he annual 鈥楢rt in the Maples鈥 outdoor festival showcases art, music, wellness and food!
鈥淚 just want everyone to attend, check out the artists and wellness vendors, listen to some great music, have some great food, relax and enjoy themselves. I want to share what I鈥檓 fortunate to have,鈥 stated Gail Andrews, organizer of the third annual event, taking place .
鈥淭his is the third year of the festival, and over the three years we have seen significant growth in the number of participants and attendance,鈥 said Ms. Andrews. 鈥淥ur first year we had 12 artists on hand and several wellness people. This year we will have 30 artists and businesses and those selling artisanal goods, everything from paintings, wood sculptors, rustic wood designers, carvers, clothing, pottery, photography, quilters, woodwork, wood burning and more.鈥
鈥淲e also have eight wellness and self-care practitioners and products, featuring tarot and divination, iridology, shiatsu and reiki, soaps and skin care products and more,鈥 said Ms. Andrews.
There will also be six food vendors on hand, serving authentic Mexican, burgers, sausages, salads, sourdough bread, grilled cheese and treats, frozen yogurt, funnel cakes, iced coffee, popcorn and candy as well as lavender lemonade.
And if it is live music you are looking for, there will be 14 individuals or groups providing music throughout the weekend.
鈥淲e are making some significant changes to the festival this year,鈥 said Ms. Andrews. 鈥淚n the past we have always advertised that seating during the festival is limited, so bring your own lawn chairs.鈥 However, 鈥渄uring the winter we picked up a dozen caf茅 tables with a cast iron base so now we have seating for about 50 people.鈥
A second change is in the hours the festival will be open, said Ms. Andrews. 鈥淥n Saturday the event will run from 11 am to 8 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm.鈥
The live music will see performers on stage from 11 am to 8 pm. Saturday鈥檚 lineup includes performers Cole Hughson and George Williamson, Ricardo Chavez, Richelle Beatty, Travis Middlebrook, Savage Best and Gosse, Jamie Dupuis and Midnight Special. The lineup for Sunday (10 am to 4 pm) includes Marcus White, Natalie Edwards, Marty Rosen, Chris Walker, Nettish and Friends. On both days walking minstrel Colleen Hannigan will also be on hand.
Sponsorship support for the festival, 鈥渉as grown significantly over the past couple of years. It seems people really are believing in the festival which is great to see,鈥 continued Ms. Andrews.
