SOUTH BAYMOUTH鈥擳he 3rd Annual Chi-Cheemaun Salute for Manitoulin is scheduled for . The all-day event, sponsored by the South Baymouth Community Development Association (SBCDA) is a repeat of the fun filled family activities of the past to recognize the important economic and transportation service provided by the Owen Sound Transportation Company and their iconic ferry, the M/S Chi-Cheemaun.
Planned highlighted events include the Canadian Coast Guard Search and Rescue Vessel (CCGS Commodore) from Tobermory with scheduled tours for the public and information about our Coast Guard, a Classic Car Show featuring both local Manitoulin antique cars and visits from neighbouring Espanola at the marina, and a 鈥淭ouch a Fire Truck鈥 experience for families and children by our Tehkummah Fire Department. The well-attended Street Vendors Market will be back featuring crafts, farmers鈥 market produce and other wares (vendors at no cost and set up at prime location adjacent to the ferry terminal parking lot), and both breakfast and lunch barbecues sponsored by the SBCDA as event and community fundraisers will be available for all attending. Local gift shops, restaurants and food vendors will be open as always for both tourists and locals.
Owen Sound Transportation is offering a half fare walk-on passenger discount for either Tobermory to South Baymouth or South Baymouth to Tobermory on the Chi-Cheemaun in support of the salute day.
