Sudbury Children's Aid Society saga continues as the board pushes back
Ontario appointed a supervisor for the Sudbury and Manitoulin CAS after safety and legal violations, though the former board blames provincial resource shortages.

SUDBURY鈥擮n August 28, Ontario鈥檚 Minister of Children, Community and Social Services (MCSS), Michael Parsa, appointed Steven Woodman, a former executive director of the Durham Children鈥檚 Aid Society, as supervisor to operate and manage the Children鈥檚 Aid Society of the Districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin (CAS) for up to one year.
Ministry reviews had identified serious concerns about the conduct of the CAS, including child placement and service plan decisions made without legal authority, parental consent, or clear funding arrangements in direct contravention of the Child and Family Services Act. Other cited issues included repeated use of restraints, restrictions on children鈥檚 movement and modifications that obstructed exits, creating fire-safety concerns.
CAS has roughly 224 children in care and participants in its 鈥淩eady, Set, Go鈥 program.
