Editorial: Rumour mill is destructive for the entire Island community
In recent weeks, following the change of ownership at the Little Current Your Independent Grocers, a swirl of outrageous rumours erupted as to what had brought the change about鈥攚ith little to no foundation.
Worse yet, those rumours conflated to include the Little Current Subway but also the grocery store in Gore Bay. The only connection that could be found between each of the three businesses was that the owners shared a similar shade of skin and were of southeast Asian origins.
Basically, someone out there decided to lump the three groups of individuals in their outrageous, racist and, quite frankly, slanderous claims.
