KAGAWONG—The Old Mill Heritage Centre Museum in Kagawong will have a very special guest at its 2027 History Day in Kagawong celebrations.
“This will be the first opportunity for those on Manitoulin Island to see hockey royalty (in person),” stated Rick Nelson, curator of the Old Mill Heritage Centre Museum in Kagawong. He confirmed that Bobby Orr, former superstar defenceman with the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) has confirmed he will be in attendance and featured at the History Day in Kagawong celebrations in 2027.

“Bobby Orr has been confirmed to be at the history Day in Kagawong celebrations on Thursday, August 12, 2027,” said Mr. Nelson. He pointed out that the museum has a Bobby Orr jersey and other items as part of its current hockey display exhibit at the museum, “but we are planning to expand the exhibit featuring Mr. Orr at the museum next summer.”

“I met Mr. Orr through Francesca Grosso (wife of Steve Paikin), she knows him and they are friends,” continued Mr. Nelson. “I was introduced to Mr. Orr through Francesca, and we started to correspondent back and forth.”
