Burpee and Mills township approved a two percent budget increase, driven by rising costs for mandated services and over $200,000 in lost revenue from environmental and farm tax exemptions.
EVANSVILLE鈥擝urpee and Mills residents will see an increase of two percent in this year鈥檚 municipal budget, with most of the increases being costs the township has no control over.
鈥淭here is a two percent increase for this year,鈥 said Ken Noland, reeve of Burpee and Mills township. 鈥淚t is the same old thing; most of the increase is the costs for services we are mandated to contribute to, like policing, district services board, health, education and the (Manitoulin Centennial) Manor.鈥
