A very exciting week has taken place at MSS. With field trips, fun outdoor activities, and new clubs starting up, I have a lot to catch everyone up on.

For starters, this past week was Mental Health Awareness Week. Luckily, our school has a Headstrong Club where we embrace, support and explore ways to help students who are struggling. Throughout the week, our Headstrong Club celebrated by hosting fun activities such as writing cards to show appreciation for friends and teachers, hot chocolate and candy stands, and jump ropes and chalk outside. Our Headstrong Committee brought fun into our usual busy schedules.

Our student social worker, Emma Chapman, is here for support if any students need help. She is free of charge and it is easy to set up an appointment with her. Just email [email protected].

From Monday to Thursday, our outdoor ed, phys ed and Ravens classes got visitors from Spirit North.

Spirit North is an organization that uses land-based sports and activities to improve the health and well being of schools across Ontario. This week, Spirit North dropped by to play lacrosse with the classes listed previously. This part is coming straight from my peers. Apparently, this was everyone鈥檚 highlight of the week.

This year, our high school was selected to travel to Coll猫ge Bor茅al for a 鈥淪peak Up and Speak Out鈥 conference.

Another field trip took place at Cambrian College for the environmental conference, where workshops and activities were held.

Also, track and field tryouts have officially started, and many students are excited to participate this season. Sprints, jumps, volunteers鈥攚e need them all. If you haven鈥檛 already signed up check with our gym teachers to see if there is space left. Everyone welcome, hope to see you there!

Overall, it has been a busy and exciting week at MSS, and we are looking forward to everything still to come this spring.
