(1913-2014)
In loving memory of Doris Manuel (Sprack), 101 years young, a resident of Manitowaning, who died in the arms of her family, the evening of Thursday, September 25, 2014. Doris was born on July 8, 1913 in Camberwell, London, England to Arthur Everest and Elizabeth(Glaum). Doris is predeceased by them and by sisters, Elsie (Bert), Edith (Ernest) and brother Fred (survived by sister-in-law, Monica). She is also predeceased by her first husband, Percy Sprack in (1960) and her second husband, John Manuel in (1988). She is survived by her beloved son, Brian Sprack and his wife Joyce of Manitowaning and her step-daughter, Margaret (husband Peter, predeceased). She is 鈥淣AN鈥 to her seven grandchildren, Debbie (Larry), Michael (Norma), Anne (John), Shari, Marc (Wayne), Scott (Christina) and Stacey. She is 鈥淕reat NAN鈥 to David (Jen), Dan (Catherine), Devon, Jason (Erika), Terilyn (Brian), Samantha, Kate, Lucas, Hailey, Vanessa and Tyler. She is 鈥淕reat-Great NAN鈥 to Eric, Jared, Josh, Jake, Ethan, Austin, Hunter and Taylor. Nan will also be sadly missed by her two cats, Boots and Sox who were constantly by her side. Nan and Grandad immigrated to Canada in 1958. They made their home in Brampton, Ontario where Nan soon became a dedicated volunteer, giving countless hours of her time at Peel Memorial Hospital and Tullamore Manor; where she delivered flowers and visited with the patients, particularly those who were most alone. Nan loved life and her family was her greatest joy. She was a hard worker, a gifted seamstress and a faithful friend to many. Nan enjoyed gardening, supporting Animal Rights causes and a 鈥減roperly prepared鈥 cup of tea in a fine China cup. Nan relocated to Manitoulin the autumn of 2007 much to the delight of her large northern family and best friend, Dorothy Overfield (predeceased in 2013). Nan passed away peacefully into the hands of God, to be reunited with those she missed so dearly. There was great celebration in heaven as another angel came home. As per her wishes, Nan will be cremated and there will be no service. A celebration of her life will held by her family on Thanksgiving Sunday at the home of her great-grandson in Sheguiandah. Donations in Nan鈥檚 memory can be made to (St. Paul鈥檚 Anglican Church Memorial Fund, c/o Jackie White, Box 208 Manitowaning, Ontario, P0P 1N0). Thank you to Dr. Mike Bedard, Joanne Mellan and the Clinic staff for their support during Nan鈥檚 final journey. Thanks also to Island Funeral Home for their tender care and consideration.
