SOUTH BAYMOUTH—The MS Chi-Cheemaun ferry begins its spring sailing season this Friday, May 1. The sailing season runs from May 1 to October 18 offering daily sailings between Tobermory and South Baymouth and connecting Manitoulin Island’s southern shore to the mainland. With the exception of the introduction of paid parking at the lots in both Tobermory and South Baymouth, everything remains much the same.
The MS Chi-Cheemaun schedule is divided into three main periods: spring, which runs from May 1 to June 18; peak summer which runs from June 19 to September 7; and fall from September 8 to October 18. Crossing time typically takes one 1 hour and 45 minutes during peak season and two hours during off-peak periods.
Rates this year have remained stet with 2025. Standard one-way rates for regular daily service between Tobermory and South Baymouth are as follows: adult (12 to 64): $18.05; senior (65-plus): $15.60; child (five to 11): $9; Infant (0 to four): free. Standard Vehicle rates (up to 20’) are $49.10 (on peak) and $38.75 (off peak). (Check the ferry website for further details).
