Nivo has launched its high-speed fibre internet service on Manitoulin Island, starting in Gore Bay. Despite permit and winter delays, expansion across the Island is expected to finish by autumn.
GORE BAY鈥擶hile Nivo is actively getting its fibre connectivity for service in areas like Gore Bay and has approximately 450 customers Island-wide ready to be hooked up, the first resident to have the service is pleased with the speed.
鈥淚t鈥檚 fast, it鈥檚 a good service,鈥 stated Carmen Runnalls of Gore Bay who had the service connected at her residence. 鈥淚鈥檓 very happy with it,鈥 she said, noting, 鈥淭he internet package is good, the television package is not currently as big as I would like, but overall, I鈥檓 happy with the whole service.鈥
Ms. Runnalls noted, 鈥渙ne of the company (Nivo) tech guys came in and hooked up the fibre to our home. We ordered the service hook up on Wednesday and got the fibre internet service on Thursday.鈥
Joshua Petersson, in-field manager for Nivo told The Expositor, 鈥渢he nodes are in place and are being activated for service in Gore Bay, Gordon, Spring Bay, and things will get started in Little Current within the next couple of weeks. We have about 450 residences that are actively ready for service, and one that has service so far.鈥
