Noah Thorpe takes first place in boys’s golf

MANITOULIN—Two Manitoulin golfers competing in the 2026 Ontario Summer Games came back with medals from the province wide competition, including Noah Thorpe of Mindemoya, who won the gold medal in the competition.

“The good news is that our golfers, representing Northeastern Junior Golf Tour (NJGT) did quite well with Noah Thorpe winning the gold medal in the individual boy’s competition,” said Dan Smith, a coach for the NJGT team. “And the boys’ team, which also included Rylan Carrick of Mindemoya, won the silver medal for finishing second overall.” The NJGT girls’ team, which included Amy Smith of Gore Bay, placed sixth.

Mr. Smith explained, “Noah (Thorpe) finished first overall with a final (18 hole) score of four under par (72, 68), two strokes better than the next best male competitor overall. It was a remarkable second round for Noah, finishing his final hole with an eagle (two under par).”
