Antonella and Paul Nunez, along with two other men, rescued and revived an 11-year-old boy who nearly drowned at Bridal Veil Falls on July 23, while calling for better on-site safety gear.
KAGAWONG鈥擣rom a serene setting for a couple from Toronto came a rescue situation when a young boy drowned at the Bridal Veil Falls in Kagawong on July 23. It was this couple and two other men who were on the scene that rescued the boy, not his parents (as had reported by The Expositor previously). Fortunately, the boy, who is 11 years old, was revived by Antonella Nunez and her husband Paul and an unknown older man and another man in his 30s who appeared to be his son.
鈥淢y husband Paul and I (who are from Toronto) had never been to Manitoulin Island before and on our visit, we went to Bridal Veil Falls,鈥 said Ms. Nunez, who contacted The Expositor last week, after having read about the incident at the falls in the July 29 edition of The Expositor.
鈥淲e were on a beach in Mindemoya on the same day of the incident when someone was saying that Bridal Veil Falls was reopening that day. When I heard this, I said to Paul, 鈥榣et鈥檚 go to Bridal Veil Falls today鈥,鈥 said Ms. Nunez, who noted the couple would be leaving Manitoulin the next day and had wanted to visit Bridal Veil Falls.
