SPRING BAY鈥擳he organizer of the Island Wide Backpack Program said that backpacks will be delivered to schools around Manitoulin Island for students to have nice new backpacks and supplies to be ready for the new school year.

鈥淲e will be sorting and delivering the backpacks to all Island schools (this) week,鈥 said Jamie Greenwood, pastor of Spring Bay Pentecostal Church told The Expositor last week. 鈥淲e have purchased all the backpacks and they will all be delivered (to the schools on the Island which will then give them to students).鈥

Pastor Greenwood noted that 鈥渁 total of $2,460 has been raised in the fundraising campaign toward the purchase of the backpacks, and in the last week (of the fundraising campaign) the amounts can be topped up,鈥 he said, noting the amount is a little short of the original goal of $3,000. He explained the shortfall will come out of the general operating expenses of the church, so that everything will be covered.
