Grass and weeds reach as high as the windshield

To The Expositor:

Once again, we are being subjected to the annual extremely hazard driving conditions caused by either our provincial government and/or Emcon who have the contract for maintaining roads on the main highways on Manitoulin.

At one time the contractor and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) maintained excellent conditions between fences with the highway in the middle. A job that was really appreciated by all who used them. Now, the grass is so high annually that one really has little chance of avoiding an animal, more likely a deer, collision.

The grass and weeds are so high that they are as high as the windshield and side windows (of a vehicle) and still rising.

When and if they do cut the grass, it is only the width of the cutter swath on the side of a tractor.

Our insurance premiums have to be higher to cover the costs from animal collisions. Maybe a lawsuit could bring this annual problem to a correction.
