Manitoulin Island Comic Con proved a popular event

The NEMI Recreation Centre hosted Pop Culture Canada’s Comicon, featuring actor George Buza. The family-friendly event included 40 vendor tables, a charity food drive, and an evening wrestling show.

Manitoulin Island Comic Con proved a popular event — Cassie and Michael, members of the 501st Legion, a global Star Wars cosplay group were on hand for the Comicon. A chapter has recently been set up in the North.

LITTLE CURRENT—The NEMI Recreation Centre was abuzz with all things comic book and beyond as Pop Culture Canada’s Comicon took to the main arena surface featuring guests such as George Buza among others.

Mr. Buza’s face is familiar from many movie and television roles, but his voice may be even more familiar, as he was the voice of Beast in X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men ’97. He also had a recurring role on the Red Green Show. A naturalized Canadian since 1998.

Pop Culture Canada bills itself as “the premier organizer of specialty events. Autograph Signings! Comic conventions! Family friendly Pro Wrestling events and Cosplay wrestling! Video game tournaments! Cosplayers! Celebrity Cars! Comics for classrooms!”

Since they have over 20 years’ experience in that role, it is no surprise the event proved to be such a success.
