1934 – 2026
It is with great sorrow that the Musson family announces that Martin Musson passed away on February 25, 2026 at the age of 92, in Ancaster, Ontario. Martin was born in Blackheath, England in 1934 to Alfred and Joan Musson, and was raised in England and the United States. He attended Tonbridge School in Kent and later London’s Imperial College, graduating with a degree in mining engineering. Martin proudly served as an officer with the Royal Engineers before emigrating to Canada in 1956. Landing in Chibougamau Quebec at -40C, he started his career as a Professional Engineer in the mining industry. He relocated to Northern Ontario to work with Falconbridge Nickel mines, and met and married his wife Joan (née Carroll). With Joan, he raised his children, Susan and David, in the mining towns of Falconbridge, Merritt, Onaping and Sudbury. Martin loved fishing and the outdoors and working with his hands (he could build anything and fix everything), but most importantly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. After a 30 year career in mining, he and Joan settled on Manitoulin Island on Lake Huron. He enjoyed fishing with neighbour Bill and nephew Alan, gardening with Joan, carpentry in his beloved workshop, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed time with his neighbours and friends, Dave and Denise Organ (both predeceased), Cornelia and Bill (predeceased) Browne, and visits with lifelong friends Rose (predeceased) and Gene Barkett. Our family would like to offer many thanks to the staff at Highgate Residence for the support and care they provided during his final year. Martin is survived and dearly missed by his wife Joan, daughter Susan, son David (wife Donna) and his grandchildren Ailie, Ken and Helena. He will also be missed by his brothers Richard (Angela) and Robin (Isabelle), sister-in-law Patricia (Jon, predeceased), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Monique, brother-in-law William (predeceased), and his many nieces and nephews on both sides of the Atlantic. At Martin’s request, there will be no formal service. If you wish to celebrate his life, please enjoy a walk in the forest or an evening fishing out on the lake.
