The Ontario government is investing in a CN rail line relocation as a first step to finally four-lane the remaining 68 kilometres of Highway 69 between Parry Sound and Sudbury, with heavy construction on four sections slated to begin by the end of next year.
CRANBERRY鈥擜s part of the Ontario government鈥檚 work to widen Highway 69 from two to four lanes, the province is investing in the relocation of a Canadian National Railway Company (CN) rail line within the Township of Mowat and the Municipality of Killarney. The remaining 68 kilometre of work to widen Highway 69 between Parry Sound and Sudbury will be split into six sections, four of which will be under heavy construction by the end of next year. This work is designed to improve northern road safety and traffic flow and keep workers on the job for years to come while supporting the province鈥檚 important mining and tourism sectors.
鈥淭he good news is that shovels will be in the ground by the end of next year,鈥 stated Jim Belanger, MP for Sudbury East-Manitoulin-Nickel Belt. 鈥淟et鈥檚 look at this as a positive. The work has to get started before it is completed.鈥
