STARBLANKET WARRIORS—Rosemary Lavallee and knowledge keeper Gordon Whiskeyjack lead a group of over 50 residential school warriors across the swing bridge at Little Current. Ms. Lavallee, at 92, is the oldest participant of the Star Blanket Tribute. The event celebrates the resilience of those who went through the residential school system and eschews the victim-laden word “survivor” in favour of the title of warrior which more accurately describes these remarkable individuals.
