Councils will deliberate before making recommendation to airport commission

NORTHEAST TOWN鈥擬embers of the Northeast Town and Assiginack councils gathered in person and through Zoom April 7 to hear a presentation on a proposed 110-acre wind farm on the Manitoulin East Municipal Airport property jointly owned by the two municipalities.

The company, Compass Greenfield Development, is requesting the airport commission, which is comprised of members of the two municipalities, lease 110 acres of airport land for a solar farm that would generate approximately 19 megawatts of power.

The company is no stranger to the solar field with 500 megawatts of projects under construction in both Saskatchewan and Ontario.
