A 17-year-old novice driver from Lively is facing charges after being stopped by the Manitoulin OPP on Highway 6 in the NEMI Township.
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 7:30 in the morning, an officer with the Manitoulin OPP observed a vehicle travelling 148 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. During the traffic stop, the driver was identified as a novice driver and a roadside breath test was conducted. The driver registered an "ALERT" on the Approved Screening Device.
In addition to the charges, the driver's licence was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
