Brian Sr. (aka Champ) begun his spiritual journey at home with his family by his side at the age of 71. W a a s e y – a a n a k w a d (the clouds are forever changing and so is me). Loving son of Flora (maiden name Shaganash) and Adolph Waboose. Survived by his partner, Iris Waboose of 42 years. Loving father of Mark (predeceased, Jennifer (Luke), Brian Jr. aka BJ (predeceased) and Amy (John). His cherished grandchildren: Codie, Devyn (Tara), Kaittyn, Louie, Jackson, Rayden, Avery, Brian III (the third), Waylon and Mia. Brian (Champ) loved spending time with his family. The happiest of time was fishing or just going for a boat ride with family. Champ like playing the guitar and singing with family. He often video taped himself playing or teaching one of his family members a few chords. Everyone knew Champ for his paintings. He often created paintings that symbolized the importance of family. His colour choices symbolized the interconnectedness of nature and the relationship with all things. Brian loved his community. He could always be counted on to donate a painting or two for a fundraiser or as a gift to a special visitor to the community. Also, Champ is the Artist who designed the current LNHL logo. Champ enjoyed hunting with family and friends and his kind generosity was expressed when he donated the meat to elders and members of the community. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Brian (Champ) will be resting at his homestead, 36 Apple Valley, from Monday, June 8, 2026 at 2 pm. A traditional farewell ceremony will take place Wednesday evening. Feast will take place at the WRFN Community Centre on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 5 pm. Cremation will take place. Arrangements by BOURCIER FUNERAL HOME, Ltd., Espanola.
