June 3, 1941 - June 1, 2026
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Mae Pyette, who passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, one day short of her 85th birthday. Shirley was born and raised in the Slash to Bill McMurray and Katie Blue. She spent 24 years serving as Clerk/Treasurer of the Township of Tehkummah, where she was respected for her dedication, reliability and professionalism. Through her years of service, she became known as someone who could be depended upon, and she carried out her work with care and integrity. Her commitment to her role reflected the same values she brought to every part of her life. She took pride in doing her best, and her contributions to the township were appreciated by many. Shirley was a devoted wife of 67 years to her husband, Lyle Pyette, and together they shared a life built on love, companionship and enduring commitment. She was a loving mother to David, Wanda (predeceased), Greg (Ann) and Cindy (Rob). Her family was the centre of her heart, and she treasured the bonds she shared with each of them. She was a proud grandmother to Jamie (Elia), Christy Ann (Kurt), Katie (Chris), Amy (predeceased), Billy (predeceased), Sheldon (Renee) and Chantal. She will be forever remembered as 鈥渙ld grandma鈥 by Track, Trapper, Timber, Milo, Gracie, Poppy, River and Winnie. She was a beloved sister to Doug (Lestie), Bev (Sandra), Arthur (Marg), Donald (Joan) and Eileen (Alvin). Shirley was predeceased by each of her siblings, and she carried their memories with her throughout her life. The ties of family were important to her, and she valued the love, stories and shared history that connected them all. Her life was enriched by these relationships, and she found strength in the family she helped nurture and support. Shirley will be remembered as a force of nature. She carried herself with grace and strength, and those who knew her were blessed by her warmth and the sincerity with which she cared for others. Her life reflected a devotion to family, a strong sense of responsibility, and a quiet generosity that left a lasting impression on everyone around her.
