Falls trail system remains closed

KAGAWONG鈥擳he stairway access to Bridal Veil Falls has reopened to the public, with access being blocked off to the Kagawong River Trail at the bottom of the falls staircase until necessary repairs can be made. The goal of Billings council is for repairs to the walking trail be completed by late summer or early fall.

Council considered a recommendation at its meeting last week to direct township staff to procure the temporary installation of suitable heavy-duty fencing, and associated signage, on the trail at the bottom of the stair system and further, that council direct staff to open the fall鈥檚 stair system to allow access to the river level, with fencing and signage now having been installed.

鈥淭he Bridal Veil Falls stairway has remained closed since the flooding that occurred in mid-April due to safety concerns resulting from damage to the trail system,鈥 Billings Mayor Bryan Barker said in a statement at a council meeting held last week. 鈥淲hile access to the stairway has been restricted, the viewing platform has remained open, allowing visitors to continue enjoying the falls from a safe location.鈥
