It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William John Lanktree on July 15th, 2026, at the age of 78, surrounded by his immediate family. Bill was the beloved son of the late Donald and Jean Lanktree. He was the former husband of Sherran Hallett, with whom he shared four children. He was a devoted father to his late son, Larry Lanktree, Allan Lanktree (Kyra), Derek Lanktree (Sherry) and Michelle Lanktree (Stephen). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Robyn, Justin, Christian, Kennedy (Devin), Parker (Victoria), Jaxon, Andrew and Carter, and a cherished great-grandfather to Ben, Nick, Bradley and Arber. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Eunice (Ben) Wilson, Lois (Jim) McCormick, June (Lorne) Hamm, and Jeananne (Shelley) Thibault. Bill had a lifelong love of baseball and having coffee and chatting with his pals. More than anything, however, his greatest pride and happiness came from spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He treasured every visit, every conversation and every memory they shared together. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Finn’s Gas Bar, especially Janice, Basil, Justin and Jeff. Dad truly enjoyed working and visiting with the many people who stopped by. The friendships he made there and the kindness shown to him over the years meant so much and will never be forgotten. We also extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at The Anchor Inn for your kindness, friendship and exceptional care. You treated Dad with dignity and warmth, and our family is forever grateful. A very special thank you goes to Denise and Chris Callaghan. Words cannot express our appreciation for the countless hours, daily support, compassion and friendship you gave our dad. Your generosity and care allowed him to remain independent and brought him comfort every day. The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Mindemoya Hospital for your exceptional care during such a difficult time. Your professionalism and kindness brought comfort to both Bill and our family. A heartfelt thank you as well to the dedicated staff of the HSN Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the outstanding care and compassion you showed throughout Dad’s stay. Your support during his final days will never be forgotten. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Wikwemikong Nursing Home for your kindness, care and thoughtfulness. Your support was deeply appreciated. Bill will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His quiet strength, love of family, and friendly conversations will remain in our hearts forever. Forever loved, always remembered and never forgotten.
