OHIO—A group of nearly 30 vintage automobiles, all pre-1916, will be visiting Manitoulin Island this coming week as part of the FARTS (Friends of Ancient Road Transportation) Tour Georgian Bay 2026, which starts its journey in Collingwood.

“The vehicles hail from all across the US,” explains organizer Mark Iles in conversation with The Expositor. “From the East to West coasts.”

Mr. Iles explained that the reason Manitoulin Island was on the group’s radar is that his boss at the Gilmore Car Museum vacationed a lot on the Island. “The guys really wanted to do something different this year,” said Mr. Iles. The tour around Georgian Bay captured their imagination.

Mr. Iles himself drives a 1913 Simplex and proudly helps maintain the 400-odd vintage vehicles in the museum.

The vintage vehicles will be touring around Manitoulin, staying at the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre in Little Current during their stay. They will be arriving between September 23 and 24.
