Alexia here with your team spirit July fly! What a whirlwind June was! Someone remarked the other day that June is as busy as December with less snow! And it’s so very true! There are about a million events going on on the Island on any given day from the end of May through to the start of Fall. Trying to be in or at them all is impossible without a body double or triple or doppelganger gang and that’s ok! You don’t have to always have your game face on, and you don’t always have to say yes to every event! And do you know why? Because of all the “Remarkable Rockets” in our Northern O. communities! We are a team; a unique collective. We all bring something so remarkable and good, we all have our gifts, treasures and troves. To see so many amazing people work together as a collective, toward something great is always an awe- inspiring, downright wonderful thing and I am so very grateful for each one of you and for all you do! My family is no exception; they still stand by me through and through; still quietly cheering me on and making me smile though my tears and sneers on those days where everything seems futile and fruitless. The other day after making everyone a “second” dinner I declared, in a random fit of fatigue and melancholy, my deep appreciation and love for them. Their gobsmacked facial expressions and silence was giving “Mom has finally fallen off the last branch that fell off the last broken-backed camel in the desert” vibes. Despite their disbelief, it was a true and heartfelt “thinking out loud” moment. 

I truly am grateful and blessed. So to all the awesome, exhausted ones out there whose families think they’ve gone around the bend, thank you for giving it all you’ve got:  from the bean counters, to the back catchers, to the chair counters, to the duck herders, to the coaches, committees, councillors, construction project managers and trades professionals, to the sports teams, business owners, sponsors, employees, volunteers, policy makers, privacy protectors, environmental activists,  teachers, mentors, parents, Elders—thank you all for being you. We are surrounded by so many incredibly strong, dedicated, conscientious, creative and downright kind people here that would do and give anything and everything to keep the beautiful synchronicity and stronghold that had been pioneered, plundered and pitched. Keep making noise, keep creating, keep singing your beautiful songs, keep dancing to the rhythm and beat of your soul fire, keep telling your stories. Keep sailing on and seeking new and wonderful ways to find peace and joy in your heart. Your children are watching and listening and so is our earth Mother.
