An OPP traffic complaint regarding a swerving vehicle in NEMI led to an impaired driving charge for a 43-year-old local driver.
(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) - One person is facing impaired-related charges following a traffic complaint.
On Monday, August 3, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint reporting a vehicle swerving and stopping in the middle of the roadway on Manitowaning Road in the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI).
Police located the driver of the vehicle on Vankoughnet Street in the Town of NEMI and initiated an investigation. Upon speaking with the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was completed with the driver, who was arrested for impaired operation as a result.
