Tehkummah council approved a one-month E4M contract extension amid resident dissatisfaction, ongoing audit delays, and governance clashes between the mayor and councillors over transparency.
TEHKUMMAH—When the smoke cleared after a contentious Tehkummah Township council meeting last week, it appears that the approximately 50 residents in attendance were not satisfied with the result of the meeting, with council approving a recommendation to extend a contract with E4M for a month.
Mayor John Deforge made it clear he wasn’t happy that issues discussed in an in camera meeting weren’t fully discussed in the open council meeting. When council considered approving the meeting agenda he said, “I want a recorded vote. I don’t approve the proposed agenda. There are some items listed to be discussed that shouldn’t be discussed in camera, about stuff in the newspaper, that should be in public.”
Mayor Deforge handed out copies of the agenda to members of the public at the meeting.
