Two individuals, including a youth, face second-degree murder charges after a 17-year-old female was found deceased on Lakeshore Drive in M’Chigeeng 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½. Police state no threat to public safety.
On August 17, 2026, UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service received a request from Emergency Medical Services to attend a residence on Lakeshore Drive in M’Chigeeng 91³ÉÈ˵¼º½ regarding a severely injured person.
Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old female who was deceased. The scene was secured, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death was initiated.
As a result of the investigation, two individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the death:

The identity of the 17-year-old accused cannot be released in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Both accused were held in custody pending court proceedings.
The UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service Crime Unit and Uniform Officers continue to investigate with assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services.
Police believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
