M’Chigeeng’s HIAH Corporation recently hosted an EV event to launch the Island’s first three DC fast chargers and two Level 2 chargers, featuring test drives and resources for sustainable living.
M’CHIGEENG—On July 10 and 11, at the M’Chigeeng Community Complex, an electric vehicle (EV) event was happening, featuring the grand opening of the new EV chargers in M’Chigeeng. HIAH Corps sponsored the two-day event, inviting Laking Toyota and Manitoulin Chrysler to bring in a few electric vehicle models for the public to test drive.
M’Chigeeng 91˵ HIAH Corporation, established in 2012 to support the economic and social welfare of the people of M’Chigeeng, was responsible for bringing the first (“and only,” Sam McQuiggan pointed out) three DC fast chargers to the Island. “Located at the business development centre, sharing a parking lot with M’Chigeeng Freshmart, Sweetgrass Pharmacy and Canada Post. M’Chigeeng also installed two level 2 chargers at the M’Chigeeng Arena,” Mr. McQuiggan added. These were prominently displayed, as the event took place in the parking lot of the arena. Sam McQuiggan is the Community Energy Coordinator for HIAH, he, along with Daina Stevens, Administrative Assistant, and Jeff Corbiere, Renewable Energy Worker for the corporation were all on hand to answer questions, sign people in and encourage everyone to eat the food that was on hand.
