GREATER SUDBURY—FDC Foundation, renowned for its philanthropic leadership and commitment to equitable access to health, has made a $2.57 million gift to St. Joseph’s Foundation to bring high-quality compassionate care closer to home for patients and older adults across the region.

The gift will fund two critical infrastructure projects: the construction of a new St. Joseph’s Lodge long-term care home in Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island and the expansion of Northeastern Ontario’s only stand-alone rehabilitative care hospital, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre in Greater Sudbury.

“This transformative gift supports the addition of 72 purpose-built rehabilitative care beds to the Northeast region and the construction of a modern long-term care home to meet the evolving needs of older adults on Manitoulin Island,” said Kari Gervais, president and chief executive officer of St. Josephs Health Centre. “It means more patients will have the space, equipment, and specialized care they need to recover and regain their independence, and more older adults will have access to the care they need closer to home.”
