Wiikwemkoong's August 22 election features four candidates for chief鈥攊ncluding incumbents and former leaders鈥攁nd a new four-year term.
WIIKWEMKOONG鈥擳he August 22 election for chief and council will have four vying for the position of chief, three of whom have held the position before. Former chief Rachel Manitowabi, incumbent Tim Ominika, Jean Oshakabewisens and former chief Gladys Wakegijig have all accepted their nominations. This is the first election to have a four-year term instead of the previous two years.
