Two meteorite hunters found two rare meteorite fragments on Cockburn Island following a June 19 strike, contributing valuable samples for scientific analysis.
COCKBURN ISLAND鈥擳wo meteorite hunting enthusiasts have found two pieces of the meteorite that struck Cockburn Island on June 19.
Dave Kenny, a retired doctor from British Columbia, and Anton Clemens of San Diego found two good sized pieces of the meteorite on a recent visit to Cockburn Island.
鈥淲e do this for the hunt of meteorites and in this case, it is a historical event for Cockburn Island as there have only been about 70 meteorite falls ever reported in Canada,鈥 Mr. Kenny told The Expositor.
