HONORA BAY鈥擳he challenges being faced by farmers over the shortage, in fact local dearth, of large animal veterinarians reach even further to other agri-businesses such as stables and organizations like horse clubs.

鈥淚 have actually been without a veterinarian for many years here on the Island,鈥 said Honora Bay Riding Stables owner Kyla Jansen. But she admits she is one of the luckier operators having a close friend in the US who is a veterinarian. 鈥淚 am very lucky,鈥 she said, 鈥渉e鈥檚 one of my best friends and comes to see me once a year, sometimes twice a year.鈥
