In loving memory of Lance Ernest Greenman, September 26, 1942 - July 12, 2026. It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Lance Ernest Greenman on July 12, 2026, at the Mindemoya Hospital. Son of the late Wesley Greenman and Gertrude (Donaldson), he was the husband of Lillian (McColeman). He was the proud and loving father of Natalie Hayden (Roger), Terrence, Patrick (Sheri), and was predeceased by his son, Chris. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his grandchildren: Krystan, Jaden, Alex, Kayla (Will), Lily, Kyle, Alyssa, and Brady. Lance is survived by his siblings Don (Betty), Sharon (Ken predeceased) and Gary (Dirk). He is predeceased by his sisters Joyce (Dave predeceased) and Bonnie (Ikuo). After completing high school, Lance ventured to southern Ontario, where he spent time working on tobacco and potato farms, as well as working at the Toronto Board of Education. In 1967, his deep connection to home brought him back to Barrie Island. He spent years farming alongside his father, and together they operated the family sawmill—a place where hard work and family values intersected. Lance was deeply committed to his community, always willing to step up and serve. He gave his time generously to the manor board and the Barrie Island Council, serving faithfully as a councillor, as Reeve and building superintendent. An outdoors man through and through, Lance loved the simple pleasures of northern life. He was happiest when curling, hunting or casting a line on Barrie Island and spending time at the 107 Club. He was also a passionate, lifelong sports fan who dedicated many nights to cheering on his favourite teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays. Lance leaves behind a legacy of hard work, community dedication and a deep love of family.
