The Manitoulin Volunteer Firefighter Challenge in Gore Bay featured five teams tackling demanding rescue drills. The hometown "Gore Bay Boyz" swept the bunker gear showdown and won the maze drill.

FIREFIGHTER CHALLENGE—Five firefighting teams, including the Gore Bay Fire Department took part in the Manitoulin Firefighter Challenge this past Saturday in Gore Bay. The teams demonstrated their skills in fire fighting and rescue drills during this highly successful event.

Manitoulin Volunteer Firefighter Challenge attracted a host of competitors — FIREFIGHTER CHALLENGE—Five firefighting teams, including the Gore Bay Fire Department took part in the Manitoulin Firefighter Challenge this past Saturday in Gore Bay. The teams demonstrated their skills in fire fighting and rescue drills during this highly successful event.

GORE BAY—Those who participated in the Manitoulin Volunteer Firefighter Challenge heaped praise on the organizers for putting on such a successful event this past Saturday in Gore Bay.

Ryan Pfaff, a firefighter in Huron Shores for 13 years, has organized the North Shore Fire Challenge for the past three years. “I’m glad that Duncan Sinclair (organizer of this past Saturday’s event) contacted me about the event here in Gore Bay, and when he did, I wanted to make sure I gave him as much support as possible. I’m very happy to see this idea branch off to other areas and this event (in Gore Bay) is excellent.”

“This is a great event, and I hope it continues in years to come,” said Mr. Pfaff. “It benefits firefighters in so many ways and in turn this benefits the communities they serve.”
