The Manitoulin Secondary School level 1 gymnastics team finished sixth overall at the NOSSA championship in Sudbury. Kirsten Bowerman, Iris Spry, and Cora Edwards-Main secured top-10 finishes.
SUDBURY鈥擬anitoulin Secondary School (MSS) gymnastics athletes fared very well at the provincial championships.
The MSS gymnastics team rose to the occasion at the NOSSA championship in Sudbury on April 14, delivering strong performances against some of the region鈥檚 top athletes. Competing against 14 other schools from around the north, the MSS team displayed skill, focus and determination posting several top 10 finishes and representing the Island with pride, said co-coach Jill Ferguson.
The MSS NOSSA team was made up of all level 1 (first year) gymnasts. Kirsten Bowerman, though injured, placed seventh on the uneven bars, just shy of the award podium. Iris Spry placed tenth on uneven bars and ninth on beam. Cora Edwards-Main placed ninth on floor. Overall, the MSS level one team placed sixth, explained Ms. Ferguson.
