Degesha and Shalin Patel have taken over daily operations of Little Current's new Subway franchise. Having relocated with their baby, they praise the community's warm, supportive response.
LITTLE CURRENT—There are three partners who have taken on the operation of the new Subway franchise in Little Current, Kritesh Patel, Hiren Patel and Shaline Patel. But when it comes to day-to-day operations, it is Degesha and her husband Shalin Patel who are at the forefront.
Ms. Patel came to Canada six years ago to study business at York University and her husband followed two years later, after also studying business in India. Both had careers as bankers, but their hearts have always found root in entrepreneurial soil. In that respect they have not fallen far from the tree, as their families run businesses back in India.
They originally moved from Toronto to Burk’s Falls where they settled into the community, but when the opportunity came up to run a Subway franchise in Little Current, they jumped at the chance—cautiously.
