In the secondary panel, enrolment is expected to reach 5,025 students including 4,246 in the English program and 779 in French Immersion.

Enrolment is calculated as full-time equivalents.

This fall, 1,532 children are expected to be enrolled in Kindergarten in Rainbow Schools, a full-day program for four- and five-year-olds.

A total of 1,142 students have registered for Grade 9 classes in area Rainbow schools.

Official enrolment data will be available at the end of October.

RDSB is the largest school board in Northern Ontario with 29 elementary school buildings and nine secondary school buildings in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin.

“During PA days, students are not in school, but their administrators, teachers and support staff are as school boards deliver presentations and/or workshops focused on provincial and local priorities,” said RDSB Director of Education Bruce Bourget. “Staff participate in professional learning to gain more knowledge and skills to further support student achievement, well-being and safety throughout the school year.”

The list of scheduled PA days for 2025-2026 include September 2, September 26, October 20, November 28, January 30, February 27 and June 5.
