MANITOULIN—The province of Ontario is looking for local applicants to be appointed as provincial appointees to the Manitoulin Police Detachment Board.
“The province is looking to fill the role of provincial representatives on the police detachment boards,” stated Bryan Barker, chair of the Manitoulin Police Detachment Board 1. “We are asking (local) municipalities to post this on their websites and social media.”
In a communique from the Ontario Association of Police Service Boards (OAPSB), it explains, “an OPP Detachment board is a civilian governance that oversees how the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) deliver service across multiple municipalities and/or 91˵s. These boards are established under Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 (CSPA).”
