LITTLE CURRENT—Wikwemikong Health Centre hosted its annual Diabetes Wellness Conference at the NEMI Recreation Centre on May 1, National Aboriginal Diabetes Awareness Day.

The event included resource departments from Wikwemikong Health Centre that supports the management of diabetes and included presentations from Dr. Kevin Caruso, a licenced naturopath doctor with a focus in diabetes, and Karry Lynn Peltier, wholistic practitioner of 143 Energy.

As the room filled, breakfast was served, seats were taken and individuals from communities of Mnidoo Mnising gathered for informational presentations and discussions on diabetes awareness, how to prevent and/or manage diabetes, and the connection between mind, spirit and body.
