EVANSVILLE—Having just completed a very successful Perth 700, a seven-day cycling event in Perth, Ontario, in which he raised over $10,000 for the Manitoulin Health Centre, Peter Carter is not only getting ready for next year’s ride but is hoping to recruit other local riders to take part.

“My goal is to recruit five local riders to become part of the Manitoulin Health Care team,” said Mr. Carter. “I raised over $10,000 on my own in the ride. Imagine how much five more members of the team could raise that would provide badly needed support for the MHC?”

Mr. Carter said that not only does he want to support the MHC, but he has another motive for taking part in the Perth 700 and staying active. “If I and other people stay healthy by being active, we will not have to use the local hospitals because we remain healthy. I’m trying to be proactive rather than reactive.”
