GORE BAY—The Gore Bay Museum is hosting an exhibition of the works of Canadian artist Christie (Best) Pearson Anderson titled ‘Heartfelt Heritage – Manitoulin Roots.’ The display highlights a collection of her paintings and drawings capturing the heritage of Manitoulin Island.
“I’ve been working on old buildings and drawings from old photographs, and I’ve known Nicole (Weppler, museum curator) for years,” said Ms. Pearson Anderson. “This would be my second exhibition here. She just asked me last summer if I was interested in having a show this year. I was trying to decide on a theme and I thought my history heritage thing would be perfect.”
As it turns out, the theme of ‘Heartfelt Heritage – Manitoulin Roots’ perfectly encapsulates the collection Ms. Pearson Anderson has put together.” Some of the pieces are for sale, but many are on loan from private collectors of Ms. Pearson Anderson’s work, and they run the gamut from old farmhouses, horse wagons, children, ancient images from the earliest days of settlement and even whimsical pets.
